In Andrioniškis – creative residency of playwright Teklė Kavtaradzė

2026-10-29

From October 26 to November 8, playwright Teklė Kavtaradzė is in residence in Andrioniškis. She has settled and is working at the Andrioniškis branch of the Liudvika and Stanislovas Didžiuliai Public Library of Anykščiai District Municipality, where she develops creative ideas in the peaceful environment of the town and invites local residents to meet and create together.

The Andrioniškis Library was not chosen for the residency by chance. The library is not only a space for books and information, but also a place where different experiences meet, ideas are born and community ties are strengthened. The resident is supervised by librarian Lina Vaišnytė, who in 2025 won the title of the best librarian in the Panevėžys region and the „Ad astra“ award in the category of municipal public library branches. The study room dedicated to the residency houses the library, manuscripts and personal belongings of the writer, poet, prose writer, journalist and publisher Antanas Drilinga, who hails from this region. This environment naturally connects contemporary creation with the literary heritage of the region.

The playwrights' residencies in Anykščiai Region are organized by the Lithuanian Theatre Centre. This year, creators are given the opportunity to reside in two different spaces – the "Janydžių Galerija" in Anykščiai and the Andrioniškis Library. The residents were selected through a competition, after evaluating the submitted applications. The playwright Kristina Marija Kulinič resided at the "Janydžių Galerija", while Teklė Kavtaradzė spends her creative period in Andrioniškis. The two-week residency is intended for writing and developing dramaturgical works, collecting material for future projects, and maturing new creative ideas. Living in the Anykščiai Region, the playwright has the opportunity to get to know the local cultural life, environment, and community better, and meetings with people become an opportunity to share experiences and seek new creative impulses.

On November 3rd at 1:00 PM, Teklė Kavtaradzė will meet with the Andrioniškis community, and on November 5th at 4:00 PM, she will lead a creative writing workshop for youth. These activities will provide an opportunity to get to know the playwright's work, the creative writing process, and the birth of texts. The activities will take place at the Andrioniškis library, but we invite everyone to join us, no matter where you live!

We invite you to four events:

November 3rd at 1:00 PM Tekle Kavtaradze will meet with the community, you can hear about her work and try creative writing tasks yourself.

The dramaturgy residency in Andrioniškis is part of the project „Playwrights“ Symposium in Anykščiai”. On November 6–7, the second Dramaturgy Symposium will be held in Anykščiai, bringing together playwrights and other participants in the field of theater and culture for professional conversations, discussions, and creative experiences. During the symposium, Kristina Marija Kulinič and Teklė Kavtaradzė will also share their impressions of their residencies and experiences of creative work.

The playwrights' residencies in Anykščiai region are organized by the Lithuanian Theatre Centre in cooperation with the Liudvika and Stanislovas Didžiuliai Public Library of Anykščiai District Municipality. The project is funded by Anykščiai District Municipality.
