A knowledgeable, intelligent society. Contributing to this goal, Lithuanian libraries will become media and information literacy centers for the fifth time on October 24–31, inviting the country's residents to participate in the activities of the Media and Information Literacy (MIRKT) Week. The range of events is diverse - from lectures and meetings with famous people and specialists to entertainment - an orienteering hike or a virtual escape room.

Live meetings
October 23rd at 11 a.m. Meeting with journalist Daiva Žeimytė-Bilienė "Who is Brainwashing Us?" at the Klaipėda branch of the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (Šviesos g. 3, Klaipėda).
October 23rd at 5 p.m. Panevėžys Elena Mezginaitė Public Library (Kniaudiškių g. 34, Panevėžys) – lecture „Trolls against journalists together with Facebook“. Lecturer – journalist Rimvydas Valatka.
October 26th at 5 p.m. Joniškis Jonas Avyžius Public Library (Vilniaus St. 3, Joniškis) – „Critical about what is happening.“ Participating is reserve major, military expert Darius Antanaitis.
October 27th at 2 p.m. The Lithuanian Audiosensory Library in Šiauliai (Spindulio St. 2, Šiauliai) will host a lecture titled "Trolls against journalists together with Facebook." The lecturer will be journalist Rimvydas Valatka.
October 27th at 5 p.m. The meeting "Increasingly antisocial social networks" will be held at the Vilnius District Municipality Central Library (Gamyklos St. 20A, Rudamina). The event will feature advertising creator, entrepreneur, creativity teacher, and publisher Tomas Ramanauskas.
October 28th at 3 p.m. The Kaunas branch of the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (Savanorių pr. 204A, Kaunas) hosts a meeting "Essential lessons of civic engagement: what should we understand about our country?" with the participation of director Karolis Kaupinis.
October 28th at 5 p.m. The Šilalė District Municipality Public Library (J. Basanavičiaus St. 15, Šilalė) is hosting the event "Truth with a Discount Code." Communication campaign strategist and public opinion formation expert Mindaugas Lapinskas is participating.
October 29th at 6 p.m. Kaunas County Public Library Ąžuolynas (Radastų g. 2, Kaunas) – meeting „Artificial Intelligence – Friend or Manipulator?“. Head of the Digital Competence Center „Technology Step“, presenter, lecturer Šarūnas Dignaitis-Kerpė will participate.
October 30th at 4 p.m. Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (Skroblų g. 10, Vilnius) – meeting „Essential lessons of civic engagement: what should we understand about our country?“. Director Karolis Kaupinis will participate.
„"So I know everything"”
From October 15 to 30, libraries invite you to spend your time not only usefully, but also actively - they are organizing special MIRKT orienteering hikes "So I know everything...". Their participants will travel along different routes, answering questions, including the MIRKT theme. Encouragement for hikers - they will be given original MIRKT week souvenirs.
Learn and create
During MIRKT week, it will be possible to participate in training workshops organized by the responsible media organization NARA. Participants will learn why high media quality standards are a necessary condition for the survival of a free society, how we can all contribute to building information resilience, etc.
Training-workshop "Media and Democracy, Lessons from Central Europe" will be held:
October 27th at 10 am. Prienai Justinas Marcinkevičius Public Library (Kauno St. 2B, Prienai);
October 29th at 1 p.m. Elektrėnai Municipality Public Library (Draugystės St. 2, Elektrėnai).
Seminars to develop audiovisual and media literacy, creativity, and critical thinking will be organized by the non-governmental cultural and educational organization "Meno avilys".
They will be held at the following libraries:
October 28th at 1 p.m. at the Panevėžys branch of the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library (J. Žemgulio g. 46, Panevėžys) – „Propaganda Techniques in Audiovisual Works“;
October 29th at 10 am. Creative workshops on the topic of film adaptations of poems and copyrights will be held at the Šiauliai County Povilas Višinskis Public Library (Aušros al. 62, Šiauliai).

Have you ever had to escape from a real escape room? Libraries invite you to try a virtual one, where you can test your media and information literacy knowledge.
Another virtual pastime and brain exercise is the crossword puzzle. Solving it will allow you to win MIRKT weekly prizes.
